I think the list above is generally fine with some quibbles (isn't this what the board is about ?

), particularly for people who venture beyond the Golden Triangle.
Delhi: Taj Mansingh is actually probably as good as the Taj Palace with a better location. Taj thinks it is the better of the two properties. And though the Imperial is not what it was, it is still pretty decent. I would not include the Aman, frankly. I know people on this board love Amans, but you are really only looking at the Amanbagh and Ranthambore which are very particular types of properties, and you can't really say that the Aman Delhi is the same sort of hotel as the other Delhi icons (and after DLF sells Aman later this year, god knows if it will still be an Aman - and for that matter, whether the other two will also stick around).
Kolkata: You would actually add the Taj Bengal to this, though it is not as distinguished as the Grand. The problem with the Grand is that it is in the heart of tourist Kolkata, which is not always a good thing.
Bengaluru: Taj West End is fine for that part of town, but you would add the Oberoi, as it is more centrally located and a bit more business oriented.
Just my two rupees.
