A380's are coming in from multiple carriers. Qantas won't have all of theirs till 2019 when the last 6 come in.
A small few are scheduled for this year and I can't answer if that one is scheduled. They will have more A380s in service and the odds of passengers getting on an A380 or even Boeing 747-8I when they come out later this year is greater instead of 747-400 service is going to be higher every year that goes by.
A380 and 747-8I in the next few years will be a lot more commonplace than 747-400s on these routes.
The last 6 747-400s were indeed newer and 747-400ER's. These are keepers till 2019. Those 747-400ER's are great planes even today.
So yes the A380 will be on more routes to replace older 747-400. Qantas has a really nice fleet replacement program under way.
Unclear if Qantas ordered any 747-8I's or not, in fact I don't think they did. Was just talking in general amongst all carriers.
