I was shocked, I can tell you - extremely mild form of bubonic plague apparently - kills off all your healthy bacteria on your skin and then all hell let's loose! Still have a couple of small scars!

Mind you, I was lucky. About 6 months later we met a couple in Thailand and one of them had contractedv Typhoid whilst on a tour around india 18 months earlier with a reputable Tour Company.

As for jabs n tabs - the usual range + when we went we were strongly recommended to take the controversial drug Larium for Maleria.

couple of thins that did surprise me about India compared with elsewhere in Asia was the constant demand for tips and the very heavy bureaucracy for mundane things like visiting a museum.
