I disagree as well. It is disclosed on the booking page that baggage fees may be incurred. Checking a bag (or bags) is optional not mandatory. Also, the baggage fees vary depending on how many bags are checked and the weight of those bags. It would be impossible for US (or any airline) to display a fixed fare that included all the various scenarios for checked luggage.
