Usually I manage to go with carry on, but sometimes I take my Bike Friday with me -- often to Europe. Its close enough to 50lbs with tools and what not that is was nice not to have to worry about it.

Yes, my second bag is nowhere near 50lbs so I can just repack if needed. But it is so much easier if all the bike stuff is with the bike.
