Well, first I knew was that they had all the emergency vehicles out for us back at HNL and the GA on the gate I ended up at said they were all watching out the window in case we had landing problems... Later found out about the hole in the wing, and we even made the newspaper in CA the next day. So, I think pilots prefer to fly without a hole in the wing, probably.
