Another related question, just so I'm clear : if my partner were tagging along with me on a business trip, where my corporate travel agent bought my ticket, and he bought his separately, there would be no way of extending my elite benefits to him ? Thanks for all replies.
To clarify, reserve the ticket on continental.com, indicate "pay with cash" and call in to split the PNR. Then pay with your respective credits. Since this function is not available online, the phone agent should waive the fee.
As for question 2, no way at all. Maybe, just maybe, a friendly agent will put them in E+ seating/ELR next to you. But no luggage benefit. As for security, just put your BP above his/hers and you'll both get into Elite lines.
