We really like Paddington, mostly because it's right on top of several Tube lines - so there's an alternative if one of them is closed, always a real possibility given London's construction, strikes and whatnot. Also, food, grocery and services are right there.
You can take HEX straight there, which is great if you've been on a redeye and are ready for bed.
I tried Paddington recently and I liked it very much. One thing that I haven't seen mentioned on Flyertalk is that the after hours nightclub at this hotel is really hot on the weekends. I was there on a Saturday night recently and there was quite a line to get in. Except as a hotel guest I was able to bypass the queue. ^
I've also tried the nearby Indigo hotel and I agree that the neighborhood is pretty nice. I've reserved there for the Olympics too.
