Delta provided hotel & meal vouchers for weather delay - Thanks!

For once I got more than expected from Delta. My husband was flying to Sacramento via Atlanta and Salt Lake City (short-notice trip). His ATL flight was delayed due to weather and when he got to SLC he had missed his connection and was rebooked for the next morning (there were no more SMF flights that evening).

Since this was a weather delay we didn't expect anything from Delta, but he checked at the kiosk and was pleasantly surprised. They didn't pay for everything, but the discount he got with the vouchers cut his costs in half. They gave him two $6.00 vouchers for meals, and a voucher for the airport LaQuinta Inn that reduced the cost from $90 to $45. It just goes to show that you should always ask--you never know what you might receive.

The only thing I didn't like was that while my husband was still in the air I called Delta to see if they would offer anything for the night; all they would tell me is my husband had to check when his flight got into SLC. They wouldn't give me a number to call and check myself. I already knew he had been rebooked because I was watching his itinerary at Delta.com. If I had known the status ahead of time I could have booked him a room before he even landed if Delta wasn't going to help. But all-in-all I am happy they did help out.
