Update from the OP: When I arrived to the gate in DFW yesterday evening, and asked the agent, if my upgrade has cleared, her response was: "Honey, there are 46 EXP waiting for the upgrade in front of you on the list so no luck today!" So, that pretty much solved the issue, I sat in 31J, saved the miles and co-pay, had few hours of decent sleep and was impressed about the quality of the dinner and service in general. Not bad experience at all!
