I'm hoping to fly in Qantas First on the A380 direct from Melbourne to Los Angeles. When I called AAdvantage to book, I was looking at qantas.com. It showed availability on Nov 29 and Dec 4. The AAdvantage agent said there was no space in first those days. She did find the October 31 space I saw.

What gives? Does or does not AA have access to all space shown on Qantas.com? If not, how would I know without calling AA which space AA does have access to?
I'm still new to the Australia leg of award travel so not sure how helpful this is, but I got an ExpertFlyer alert yesterday for seats showing up on QF LAX-BNE in U, and the AA agent was able to see all of the seats ExpertFlyer was showing when I searched in ExpertFlyer under QF. Not sure if that was a coincidence or if it is always the case? If AA can't see everything ExpertFlyer shows under QF, then ExpertFlyer may not be that helpful for AA members trying to book on QF, which is unfortunate because that is primarily what I am using it for now. Not sure though.

Also, regarding equipment, I have seen a trend in award travel (at least for my dates next fall) of no award seats to Australia being open on an A380 in U and all of the availability (if any) is on other models - e.g. 747. Hopefully that will change.
