A lot of people surprised by the fare cost. I'm not sure how the exact ticketing broke down, and I can't get to the original receipt any more, that number came off the Itinerary from the travel dept. My total trip looked like this originally:
Y classs - GRR->DTW -> I class NRT-> I class HKG - Delta metal
took a train HKG->CAN - stayed a week
I class CAN->NRT - China Southern Metal
Stayed for a week
J class -> NRT->MSP ->Y class GRR
That last trip is where it got screwed up
Y class NRT->SEA->Y class MSP->Y class GRR
That price doesn't sound strange; $10k-$12k is what it costs to get into BE on the nonstop DTW-NRT/PVG/PEK/HKG routes. You have to connect in MSP or the west coast to get it down under 10.
