quick update from my side:

2 weeks ago i bought a K class fare to SIN

Friday i check in at AMS and present my swu asking if they can do anything allready. Checkin lady was very nice but she couldt do anything. But she would but a message in the system.
Ofcourse AMS FRA was delayed, and we parked at a remote stand and i arrived at the gate in fra when boarding just started.

I walked straight to the desk and the checkinsupervisor pro actively said: Are you Mr Sido21? Yes, i said.
She said: yes i have been calling you allready 3 times now, we will give you the upgrade.
Normally it isnt possible anymore as your fare is to low, because luthansa made a few changes, however as this has not been completely proccesed at united side yet we can still accept this swu. ( her words not mine)


At this present moment i am at changi airport. I went to the LH early checkin desk, presented my swu and the SQ agent called the LH office. There they said that i would have to wait untill the gate.
I asked to check again and then she came back with: Ok, no problem lufthansa will accept we will give you the upgrade. However as she proceeded to check me in the system refused to give me the upgrade ( due to my K class) and she contacted LH again.
LH told them i would have to wait untill the LH staff was actually at the checkin ( they where still at their office ) and i would get my upgrade at the gate. ( They kept my swu and issued a boardingpass in Y so i could go through immigration)

So i have hopes that it will work, but things could still change..
