I have been trying to decide the same thing. I have been to Four Seasons KH and the Explorer which is the best thing ever if you are a diver. I have made reservations at Amanpulo but I have also read and looked at the rooms and they do look dull and old but have heard the service is amazing. I know the regional manager of Maldives and I haven't been to LG and really can't decide.
Maldives looks so commercial now and the hotels are much bigger and so close together. The beach villas for LG seems to be the best. I do lean more towards Amanpulo because it has only 40 villas and I think it is more private.
I am traveling alone first for the beach portion then to India and also renting a place in France for 4 months so it is a huge trip and I don't want to make a mistake, they both are expensive. I want privacy, not lots of kids. I love kids and have 2 grown children but I am writing a book and want a peaceful place.

I would love advise on this!! I am suppose to leave next month!!
