I tried searching delta.com and the threads for this but couldn't come up with anything.. hopefully someone can help. I'm a newbie posting but have been lurker on FlyerTalk for years now..

I'll be traveling to LA for about 2 months next week. I'm a Gold Medallion member and I know I get 2 checked bags up to 70lbs free, however I have 3 (maybe even 4) bags that I'll need to check. My question is, will my 3rd checked bag be at the standard $25 rate or does it count as a 3rd bag rate?

When I called the Skymiles line, the rep told me I could do the 3rd bag for $25 however I'm quite familiar with how some reps can give the wrong information and I don't want to get to the airport and have any surprises, when I can just go ahead and ship a box over now for about $30 and get it a few days after I arrive.

Does anyone know?
