Excellent compendium by Tony 2X. Avoid the Park Lane at all costs. Unless you're an Arab Sheikh you will not be upgraded, and the place is frayed. The W is overrated, its staff have too much attitude, and the location stinks. The Meridien is your best choice. Piccadilly is fairly centric, though a bit tacky. But you are a 10-15 minute walk from practically anywhere. And the lounge really is quite good.

Do not miss the Churchill War Museum - the bunkers are amazing.
