The annual fee for a USA-issued personal Platinum card is $450. For an additional $45 per year you can request "up to five" Gold cards on the same account, or for an additional $175 per year you can request "up to three" additional Platinum cards.

If you prefer not to pay even the $45 you can apply for a free Blue from American Express credit card. This will be a separate account, with a separate bill, but the rewards will be pooled.
