You may find that you can get the same price if you call BA direct. I find the BA booking engine isn't good at dealing with anything beyond a relatively simple booking and frequently have to call to book a fairly simple itinerary because the ba.com price is well above the lowest available fare. I have always been able to get the call centre to book these flights and they do now seem to waive the offline fee for golds.
