Everything but the above was fine - but if I was a new AS flyer I'd be rather surprised by the lack of 70 lbs. (And, we'll carry 2 of your 50lb bags for free but charge you $50 for 1 58lb bag and no second bag, because we're a small airline and can't afford to do the first with a waiver, is disingenuous at best.)

Rules are rules and I have to follow the rules is a perfectly acceptable explanation - much better than "we are a small airline (that is making record profits and our stock is going through the roof) so we can't afford to give you a waiver."
