The hotel has been closed for renovation since Jan 2007. Since then, one tentative opening date after the other has come and gone.... It is still not open, has been in the same "state" since March 10 (that is when I left Muscat) and all subcontractors refused to continue work on it until the owning company (local company) shows liquidity to pay for any of the work to be done.... The last tentative opening date was Jan 2012, but already last summer they were budgeting for an opening sometime in the summer 2012... The hotel not even replying to any queries is standard procedure there and not a surprise when you know the management team there... It has become the laughing stock of the whole hospitality community in Oman! (I know what I am talking about - I worked there....)
