Thanks for your response. I'll be checking in at SFO though so JL staff possibily could tag my luggage all the way SFO-HND-HKG, as both JL and CX both in oneworld?

I understand that at Tokyo, intl-intl transfer pax don't need to re-checkin luggage, so hopefully my 2 bags can go all the way to HKG! I might just need to go to JL/CX transfer desk or CX counter to get my CX boarding pass, but no need to pick up luggage and drop off again?

2. MSC rules apply to single ticket. Since you are issuing 2 different tickets, when you check in at HKG with CX, you are only entitled to 20kg and will most likely be charged extra baggage fee.

you should have issued HND-HKG on JAL instead. At least you will get 2x23kg that way
