The OP referred to America and Europe. The US is one country. Europe is 50 or so different countries. Comparing AmEx benefits in US and Europe is a bit like comparing wine and beer.

As pointed out elsewhere, AmEx benefits differ according to the market. FWIW, I think the 0% foreign fee for US plats and Centurions is unbeatable. UK cards have to bear a don't-call-it-3%-it's-only-2.99% surcharge on all non-£ transactions. Until now, the insurance coverage for UK plats and Centurions was unbeatable. In spite of the current changes, the car rental cover and Priority Pass memberships are better with the UK cards than the US cards IMO.
