Point taken. It's just that the board went through a phase where the worst thing in the world was to find yourself with a J seat in a 4 class 777, where the perception was all the seats were dire (I'm sure the folk in rows 24-60 wouldn't see it that way) and it was practically a breach of your human rights if you couldn't get 10D (or whatever the one vaguely tolerable seat was deemed to be).

In the real world, the vast majority of people simply buy a ticket, go to the airport, get a seat allocated and fly off to wherever they want to go.
