p.s. another thing that I often do is use the Star Alliance website to look for connections and routing possibilities if cost is not a primary constraint.

Enter your origin and dest, click on your travel date, and the schedule should bring up all legit connections including shortest and fastest (if that's what you want). Then it's an easy task to start building an itin through one of the *Alliance hub cities.
