I like to mix things up. While I do have a disdain for something touristy, some sights can be fun and often people flock to them for a reason. I went to Chicago last year to see a friend of mine and as part of our activities we went to Navy Pier and watched fireworks. Touristy? Absolutely. Fun? Again, absolutely.

The one issue I'm far firmer on is trying to avoid touristy restaurants while traveling, particularly in other countries. If the menu is in English or features pictures? I want nothing to do with the place.
