I am sorry for your loss, but it is the carrier's discression to refund a NON refundable ticket. Contract of Carriage is a complicated and long document that you agreed to when you purchased the ticket, and unless there is a clause that addresses your particular situation the company has no obligation to refund a non refundable ticket.
