the benefit year runs from March - Feb, however depending on when they update their computer records, your status may be reflected earlier and grant you access to your privileges such as extra luggage and lounge access
AC will say March just in case if they are not done with giving everyone their status. You will notice here where a lot of people whine and pout about not getting the status yet, but AC will say that its start in March not Jan. So you can't really complain.
