My companion definitely wants to use the outbound ticket (it is still a good deal, even if only a one-way trip), but wants to extend his/her stay in Europe (in order to attend a wedding), and would buy a one-way ticket to get back home....... we would not be notifying BA in advance of this hypothetical eventuality......
