Sure, but I think the OP is wondering at which point do you stop having to worry about such factors. Right now if I wanted to buy a $5000 ticket I could, but would have to budget for it, delay and/or give up other purchases, etc. At what point could you buy such a ticket while covering all your usual expenses and be able to buy your wife a nice purse AND still have plenty left over? I stand by my low- to mid-six figures guess before. If your bank account is being replenished each month by 3-4x what you spent on the ticket, it becomes a relatively minor expense. At least that's my justification for taking weekend trips (in Y) to various corners of the country on my budget
