I won't post a lengthy review but wanted to bump this thread with a quick update.
My two night stay last week went exceedingly smoothly and I very much enjoyed the warm welcome I was extended at this hotel. I was assigned room #1344, a well appointed king bed room on the 13th floor (luckily I'm not superstitious) that overlooked the pool and had a bit of a "city" view.
The pool itself was quite cool so stayed in the hot tub while I was on the pool deck, though it did get a bit breezy being on the 5th floor. Overall however it's a nice space and gives plenty of room to find a spot to relax in and read or doze or unwind.
The meal at Avanzare went really well and had the steak and used my restaurant.com certificate without an issue. Like the rest of the hotel very friendly staff and good quality food for a hotel restaurant.
One nearby bistro I will mention as being worth a few block walk is L'Eden, a small, intimate French restaurant that is homey and not at all stuffy as many good French restaurants can be at times and in places. The quiche Lorraine with potatos on the side was a filling lunch for $8 and even with a beer and salad $18 plus tip for a good size lunch is a bargain for what I felt I received.
Funny part was I'd asked the Hyatt concierge for directions before setting off to L'Eden and he pointed the way and spoke highly of the restaurant but didn't really think too much about it. Later however when I was dining there at lunch he walked in so I asked and he admitted to coming regularly soo it was a case of his standing behind his recommendations which isn't something you encounter too often in travels as some hotel staff couldn't be bothered it seems and can barely tell you anything nearby never mind eating there themselves.
Anyway, overall a very warm welcome and plesant stay and walked to my cruise for an wonderful week escape in the Caribbean and it was nice to start the whole holiday on such an enjoyable note. If I were to return to Tampa I'd stay at the Hyatt Regency again in a heartbeat. ^
