I am supposed to have a small snack every p.m. with prescription Niaspan. For me, what works best--true confession if you won't laugh

-- is one or two saltines crumbled into about a fourth of a cup of low-fat buttermilk, a snack that I find a lot more agreeable than the recommended applesauce.
My mother enjoyed saltines crumbled in buttermilk when I was growing up. It's a southern thing, y'all.
I'd never heard of saltines in regular milk, however--or as it was once called, "sweet milk." Y'all must not be from the south.
