I always pop in to lounges even if my flight is already boarding, just to grab a newspaper, magazine, nothing to be embarrassed about!

With regards to the LGW offering, I personally don't think the No 1 lounge is better than the BA terraces. It's smaller, busier and although food offering looks better, it's of poor quality. All in all, I'd go for the BA lounge at LGW anytime.
