The police don't pull you over and ticket you if you don't have a Fastrak in your car - Fastrak is a private company.
The fine will go to the owner of the car as shown by the license plate which is recorded with a camera as you pass the Fastrak reader i.e. it will go to the rental car company who, and this is a matter of much debate, may in turn fine
you, even doing so directly to your credit card.
I too would be interested on how this works, especially if you are from another country, don't know how things work here, and the rental car company doesn't advise you NOT to go in the Fastrak lanes with their cars. Maybe they have a special deal already in place with Fastrak?
