I'd check the financial performance of Virgin Atlantic before making too many claims about Bransons ability - there's a reason Singapore Airlines has been trying to unload its 49% for years but can't find a buyer.

Actually the US has the airline with probably the best, most consistent financial performance of all airlines - yup, Southwest - it's done the unfashionable short domestic routes profitably for 35+ years IIRC, and paid dividends. It may not be glamorous but it's effective, and pays it's staff relatively will I believe. IMO the jury is still out on whether Gary Kelly will prove a competent successor to Herb, but that's a problem lots of similar businesses face across all industries.
