Well - I happen to know someone at Hilton - and she was able to do some under the radar checking for me - especially since the deal has been dead for three weeks now - and several folks have airline tickets to go there.
The prepaid rate is just that - prepaid. When the error was discovered, the Hilton AUS did feel that they needed to honor the rate and not have people's money refunded. NO ONE will be charged anymore.
Evidently, there are some internal bookkeeping remedies for situations like this when they do occur. The new amount showing is what is credited to the hotel in it's 'accrual accounting practices." I know nothing about accounting, but I have been assured, no one will be charged any extra.
