I fear that the bag who survives the NYC or ORDeal baggage handlers has yet to be invented ( hard case titanium ?? ) I think that the best tip for any sports equipment is the one from Sperrgepäck, add as much quilted clothing as you can stuff into it. However this arouses suspicin with The Stupid Agency and they will "inspect" it closely. If you have zippers try and get some of the airline plastic seals for a FA, then you can see if somebody has opened your sport bag.
