I do have frequent problems selecting EC on KLM. A call to Delta fixes it. They go in and assign the seats for me. Works every time!
I do have to make a point of asking for the KLM confirmation number (different than the Delta one) so I can access my itinerary on the KLM website.
Not sure if I should admit to this, but it seems Delta may have given me free EC seats on a KLM flight even though I'm only GM. I called up with credit card in hand, ready to pay the 50% fee. Before I knew it the agent said "You are all set, thank you for calling" and hung up. The EC seat assignments show up on both KLM.com and Delta.com so it would seem that I got very lucky.. My flights are on Wednesday so I'll know for sure then.
