That was the flight I was on and posted about the incident on our "Doctor" thread when I got back home. [Actually, it was AC856, an A340, late out of YYZ, overbooked, with passengers and crew thankful our passenger was able to be saved.] So I guess this answers Empress' question. Yes, the intercontinental aircraft had already been equipped with them, and this is now extending to the domestic/transborder routes served by narrow body aircraft.
