Arrived at LAX last night around midnight. There is a large Gold Choice area but it is confusing to me which cars there are straight swaps and which ones are buy-ups. I was told the odd-numbered rows are the swaps.

In any case, saw a lot of large Infiniti and MB SUVs in the buy-up area and tons of minivans in the swap. I was told the Golden Globes+ a large Sony Expo this weekend resulted ina serious car shortage last night.

I have a minivan reserved for JFK next week (seriously cheaper than anything smaller) and might try and "downgrade" myself using the Gold Choice there to a car that can be driven and parked in Manhattan overnight.
