Not sure that is true in my case. In fact the very first symptom of the illness was dizzyness. At the time I was fully hydrated, but I felt almost as if I had been drugged by a narcotic. The gastro-nastiness happened later.

I was given an IV in hospital to fill me back up but that didn't stop the dizzyness, nor did Stemitil which is supposed to fix dizzyness and nausea. And I've been drinking lots of water and Gatorade since. It's getting slowly better day by day and I took a short flight to JFK yesterday.
