This is actually a really great credit card for those that actually use Virgin, which I do.
Not only does it give tier/status, but you can also get a return of 2.1 pts/$ thanks to the 1.5x base miles and 15,000 pts at $25k spend bonus without having to do anything unusual, which is a very nice return. Most airlines only offer 1x-1.25x base miles per dollar spent. Unusual for Bank of America at a time when Chase UR and Amex MR cards are blowing their credit cards out of the water for travel benefits.
Taken together with an Amex Premier Rewards Gold card, used right, it's possible to rack up around 140,000-150,000 points/year on $55-60k/year spend, as long as you use Membership Rewards bonuses reliably, which is a pretty decent return.
