IIRC the transfer desks are in T3 before you get on the bus, and they'll give you a BP at that point. (If not, then you would be able to show your ticket to get on the bus and then pick up the BP at the transfer desk where the bus drops you in T5, but I don't think that's how it works.) Either way, you can certainly do airside transfer without necessarily holding a BP for your onward flight.
