I have stopped collecting Aeroplan points. Latest fuel surcharge hit was the tipping point for me. For the short term I am going to collect Membership Rewards points and BMO World Elite points until I figure out a longer term strategy.

I still have a lot of AE points, but none of them are close to expiring.

I had CIBC Aerogold Visa and AMEX Aeroplanplus Platinum as my main ways to collect points. Have downgraded to no fee CIBC Visa to maintain a longish credit history and will not use it. Canceled my Aeroplanplus AMEX and kept regular MR amex.
