Agreed. However, I believe a policy change would also be required. As long as the guidelines and policies coming from the top don't make sense, you will keep running into the same issue.
I recently posted in this forum about my flights in Europe: no shoe removal, no yelling, no rude behavior. It was a refreshing change.
