Other than the business for economy deal that just finished it is a total sham. I was able to book SFO-HKG return in business on non AC metal for 75K and 121.dollars.

I recently stayed 2 nights at the W HK for 12,000 SPG points per night. For the same 2 nights, it would have cost me 96,000 AP miles per night. It is quite obvious which one is more valuable if you stay at Starwood properties.
