I agree with the comments of the varying degrees of service with the Envoy product. On our flight to MAN on the 23rd we were both surprised and delighted to find that we were on a newly configured plane. It was the best four hours sleep I have had on a US Envoy product ever! The service, on the other hand, was deplorable. No amenity kits and the male flight attendants were both well beyond their start date for AARP membership and not even clean shaven, sporting a dayold beard. Ours basically served us dinner, removed the plates, and that was that. I tried to get a smile out of him but didn't see one the entire flight.
On the return, however, we were on the old configuration. The flight attendant ( again, a male) was probably one of the best I have ever experienced. This was a second career for him but it was obvious he loved what he was doing. He checked with us on a consistent basis throughout the flight, called everyone by name, thanked us for flying US Airways, apologized for the less than stellar flight over experience and encouraged me to write to US about it - which I have done. He just absolutely was the highlight of both flights - and I wrote about him as well.
Yes, I'm sorry to see the old International Envoy Lounge go the way of the dinosaurs....it was definitely a plus for Envoy travel. But at least there is hot soup...and a couple of 'premium' drink chits ( I really think they could spring for two per passenger, but.....)
Enjoy your trip flozano.
