other valid indication of Star Alliance Gold level status". I'm sure valid will be the key word, but I think UA should deny the *Gs from said airline to all UCs until they agree to follow the stated policy.
I just had another phone call with M+ to this effect.

For the record I think UA is really dropping the ball on this one. They could have very easily allowed eligible *Gs to request a new/temp card without issuing new cards to everyone. For those of us that travel domestically or don't need the card wouldn't ask for one.
