If I do accept the BA flight, will they let me leave from NYC instead of flying from NYC - ORD?

Should I call them or wait until they contact me?

Thanks for all your helpful information!

You can wait or you can proactively call them, but it might be worth waiting a week or so just to be sure the cancellation is fully reflected in their systems.

They are obligated to get you from your origin to your destination in the class of service you were originally ticketed in. They can't unilaterally cancel the ticket. They should NOT charge you any additional fees for putting you on BA or any other carrier; AA will have to eat that.

If you were originally ticketed to depart from NYC, then your re-routing will also depart from NYC. You will not have to pass through Chicago.
