I've booked Mr & Mrs JJJJS into the Conrad Koh Samui for 2 weeks at the end of January and I was wondering if any one has any advice about Scuba diving in the area. It's been about 7 years since I've been to Koh Samui, when I went diving with Planet Scuba based in Chaweng.
Last time I split my diving between sites around Ang Thong Marine Park and those closer to Koh Tao, which was a fair distance by boat but well worth the trip. Obviously, a lot can change in 7 years, so I was wondering if any one had more recent experience to share.

Also, ick mentioned that the snorkeling off the beach was fairly unremarkable, but are there any other areas within swimming distance of the resort worth exploring?

Cheers,

I am actually staying there between Jan 23 to 27. I checked out the diving situation as we wanted to get some warm up diving in before we head to sipadan (next stop on the trip). It seems the diving around koh samui is less than great. Koh Tao is supposed to be much better. I arranged a trip on Jan 24th, with pick up from the resort, three dives around koh tao's southern (closer) sites. If you want to join send me a PM. I also read on the conrad site that they have a dive center on site, i just emailed them to find out more, i will let you know what they say
