I have no idea if this was mentioned in the How to Upgrade thread, but I have noticed in the past that if I wait awhile my name is called for the upgrade. Whenever I board during pre boarding they never tell me anything and just give my BP back and I end up in my original Y seat, which sucks.

I don't know if this is just a coincidence but so far I have a perfect upgrade record when not boarding early in the process.
